Colour Analysis Quiz: Find the Shades That Suit You

Take the colour analysis quiz to find your season and discover the shades that suit you. Six visual questions, four minutes, no mirror needed.

This colour analysis quiz works out what colours suit you in four minutes. Six visual questions about your natural colouring (skin, hair, eyes) mapped to one of four seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter. At the end you get your season, the shades I'd put you in, and a curated edit of pieces in your palette.

What is colour analysis?

Colour analysis is the practice of reading your natural colouring (your skin undertone, your hair, your eyes) and matching it to the colours that make you look brightest, clearest and most rested. The four-season framework (Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter) is the shorthand stylists use to describe those groupings. Spring and Autumn are warm. Summer and Winter are cool. Within each, the colours share a temperature and a depth that quietly flatter people with the same colouring.

Traditionally you'd book a draping appointment, sit under daylight bulbs and have a stylist hold dozens of fabric swatches against your face. My colour analysis quiz skips all of that. Four minutes, six questions, then real product picks in your season, not just a swatch card you have to translate into shopping. If you want to understand the theory first, the colour palette guide covers undertones, contrast levels and all four seasons before you touch the quiz.

How does this quiz work?

Six visual questions. No mirror needed, no draping, no fabric swatches. You answer based on your natural colouring: the hair you grew, the skin you live in, the eyes you were born with. Pick the option that sounds closest. If two feel right, go with your gut. Most women take about four minutes.

At the end you get three things. Your season, with a short explanation of why. Maria's recommended shades for your palette, meaning the colours that suit you specifically rather than a generic swatch card. And a curated edit of brand picks ready to shop. Wondering whether this colour analysis quiz is right for you? It works best if you answer based on your natural, uncoloured hair and bare skin, with foundation on but no colour-correcting filters. The full result is gated behind a quick signup so I can save your palette to your account and tag your product feed.

The 4 colour palettes

Each season has its own mood and its own logic. If your main question is "what colours suit me?", the answer almost always starts with your undertone, warm or cool, and then narrows to your depth within that temperature. Here's the short version, with a dedicated guide one click away for each season.

Spring: warm undertones, bright and clear. Think warm coral, peach, golden green and cognac. Read the full Spring palette guide.

Summer: cool undertones, soft and muted. Dusty rose, soft blues, cool mauve and gentle greys. Read the full Summer palette guide.

Autumn: warm undertones, deep and earthy. Caramel, warm taupe, olive, terracotta and rich browns. Read the full Autumn palette guide.

Winter: cool undertones, vivid and high-contrast. True red, sapphire, emerald, fuchsia and crisp white. Read the full Winter palette guide.

Not sure whether colour is holding your wardrobe back or your body shape is? The body type fashion guide is a good companion read, and most women find both levers matter.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know which colour season I am?

The fastest way is to take this quiz, because it walks you through the same questions I'd ask a client. The shortcut version: identify your undertone first (warm or cool), then your depth (bright and clear, or soft and muted). Warm and bright is Spring, warm and soft is Autumn, cool and soft is Summer, cool and bright is Winter. The Autumn colour palette guide and Spring colour palette guide are worth reading if you're unsure which warm season you are.

What's the difference between warm and cool undertones?

Warm undertones have yellow, golden or peach running underneath the skin, and gold jewellery tends to look better than silver. Cool undertones have pink, rose or blue underneath, and silver tends to flatter more than gold. Check the veins on your inner wrist in daylight: green reads warm, blue or purple reads cool.

Can my colour palette change?

Your underlying season doesn't change, because your undertone is fixed. What can shift is the depth and brightness within your season as your hair greys, you tan, or your skin tone softens with age. Most women stay in the same season their whole lives but move slightly within it. It's worth retaking the quiz if your hair colour changes significantly.

What if I'm between two seasons?

It's genuinely common, especially between Spring and Autumn (both warm) or Summer and Winter (both cool). The quiz gives you a primary season plus a secondary one if you're borderline. In practice, you wear the shared colours from both palettes most of the time and only avoid the extremes, such as Spring's brightest brights if you lean Autumn.

Is this colour analysis quiz free?

Yes, the quiz itself is completely free. You answer the six questions and see your season at the end. The only step that needs an account is saving your palette and unlocking the curated product picks in your shades, and that signup is free too.

Do I have to register to take the quiz?

You don't need to register to start the quiz or answer the questions. Registration only kicks in at the result stage so I can save your palette to your account, tag your product feed with your season, and email you the full breakdown. It takes ten seconds and you can use email or social sign-in.
